ShipAppFast vs FlutterFlow: which one actually gets a mobile app into the stores
ShipAppFast vs FlutterFlow for founders shipping a real iOS and Android app. One-time Flutter source built for Cursor and Claude Code, against a visual builder billed monthly.
ShipAppFast is the better starting point if the app has to live in the App Store and Play Store, and the next person editing it is you or an AI agent in Cursor or Claude Code. FlutterFlow is the better starting point if you want to draw the app on a canvas and you are happy paying monthly to stay in that canvas.
The short answer
FlutterFlow is a visual builder that generates Flutter. ShipAppFast is a production Flutter codebase you clone, open, and extend. They both end in Dart. They do not start in the same place, and they do not bill you the same way.
Pick FlutterFlow if the canvas is the product you want to work in, you also need web, and a seat fee is fine. Pick ShipAppFast if the destination is a native app, the editor is an agent, and you want the boring layer — auth, paywall, push, account deletion — already written, already connected, and already yours after a single payment.
Prices below were checked on 8 October 2026. FlutterFlow publishes its own plans at flutterflow.io/pricing. ShipAppFast founding prices are on shipappfast.site.
What each one actually is
FlutterFlow is a hosted visual environment. You design screens, wire data, and export Flutter when your plan allows it. Free is for trying the builder. Code download and store deployment sit on paid plans. Basic is $39 a month. Growth starts at $80 for the first seat. Business starts at $150 for the first seat. AI generation is metered by requests and credits. The exported project compiles to real iOS and Android. It is not a web wrapper.
The practical limit is the loop you leave. Edits you make in the exported code do not flow back into the canvas. Once you outgrow the builder, you inherit FlutterFlow’s packages and conventions and you maintain that code yourself. GitHub integration is a Growth feature, not a Basic one.
ShipAppFast is the other shape. It is a private Flutter repo: iOS and Android from one project, Riverpod, auth, routing and guards, onboarding, profiles, account deletion, push, themes, dark mode, two languages with right-to-left, and payments through RevenueCat and Superwall. Backend is Firebase, Supabase, or your own API. Analytics and crashes are PostHog, Google Analytics, Sentry, and Crashlytics. It runs on mock data the minute you clone it — no Firebase project, no keys, no console.
Starter is $119 during the founding run, then $219. Complete is $149, then $249. Both are one-time. Complete adds the agent layer: CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md, recipes, and a /new-feature command aimed at Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, OpenCode, and Codex. Unlimited apps. Lifetime updates on Complete. Sales are final, because the repo is in your hands the moment you pay.
Side by side

|---|---|---|
| What you buy | A seat in a visual builder | The Flutter source |
| Price to own code | Basic at $39/month for code download | $119 or $149 once, founding run |
| 12-month cost, solo | About $468 on Basic, before annual discount | $149 once on Complete |
| iOS and Android | Yes, generated Flutter | Yes, one project |
| Web | Yes, first-class | Not the point of the kit |
| Editor after day one | Canvas, until you export and leave | Cursor, Claude Code, or your own IDE |
| Agent instructions | You write them against generated code | Written into the repo the agent reads first |
| Auth, Apple sign-in, account deletion | You build or assemble them | Already in the project |
| Subscriptions | You integrate | RevenueCat and Superwall already wired |
| Runs before you have keys | No — you configure the project | Yes — mock data, no console |
| Lock-in | Canvas edits do not round-trip after export | None. It is your repo |
| Best at | Drawing screens, shipping web plus mobile | Shipping a store app with an agent |
Where FlutterFlow is the better choice
Use FlutterFlow if any of these are true.
You do not want to read Dart, and you do not want an agent reading it for you. The canvas is the interface. ShipAppFast assumes someone — you or a model — will work in the codebase.
You need a marketing site, a web app, and a mobile app from the same project. FlutterFlow treats web as a destination. ShipAppFast does not.
Your team designs in the builder together. Growth and Business are priced for that. A boilerplate is a repo, not a collaboration product.
You are still exploring layout. Dragging twenty versions of a screen is faster in a visual tool than describing them. Steal the layout, then decide if you want to live there.
Where ShipAppFast is the better choice
The failure mode FlutterFlow does not advertise is the month after export. The code is yours, and it is also verbose, generated, and written for the builder that produced it. An agent dropped into that tree spends its context rediscovering conventions. That is the context tax: tokens spent re-reading a project that never told the model how it is built.
ShipAppFast is written the other way around. The conventions are in the files the agent reads first. One feature is the pattern for the next feature. Review becomes “does this match?” instead of “is this sane?”. The toolchain is pinned, so the usual agent trap — Kotlin plugin conflicts, AGP and Gradle mismatches, CocoaPods fighting Swift Package Manager — is already met.
The store path is the other gap. A visual builder can emit a binary. It does not, by default, hand you Sign in with Apple next to Google, an in-app account deletion screen, a paywall on RevenueCat, restore purchases, push, and a build that runs before you have created a Firebase project. Those are the screens review keeps sending back. They are also the screens nobody remembers budgeting for. The kit starts you on the far side of them.
If you want the calendar maths for building that layer by hand, it is in Flutter boilerplate vs building from scratch. This post is the narrower claim: against a monthly visual builder, the one-time repo is the cheaper way to own a store app.
The bill, without the pitch
Basic at $39 a month is $468 over a year, before the annual discount. Growth at $80 for the first seat is $960. You are paying for the canvas the whole time you use it.
ShipAppFast Complete at $149 is paid once. After the founding run the same licence is $249, still once. Break-even against Basic is inside four months. Against Growth it is inside two.
That comparison is only fair if you were going to keep the FlutterFlow seat. If you export in week three and cancel, you have paid for a month or two and you now maintain generated code. That can still be the right trade if the canvas got you to a layout you like. It is a bad trade if the canvas was only standing in for auth and a paywall.
What neither tool does for you
FlutterFlow will not invent a product that clears Guideline 4.2. ShipAppFast will not either. Minimum functionality is about the idea, not the shell. A skincare shop, a habit tracker, a marketplace — the distinctive part is still yours. The kit’s claim is that the shell is no longer the reason the idea dies.
Neither replaces a privacy policy, a demo account in App Store Connect, or screenshots that match the binary. Those stay on you. The submission list is in the Flutter App Store checklist.
FAQ
Is ShipAppFast a FlutterFlow alternative?
Yes, if the job is a native iOS and Android app you will keep editing in code or with an agent. No, if the job is a visual builder with web publishing and shared seats. They overlap on Flutter. They do not overlap on how you work.
Can I export FlutterFlow code and drop it into Cursor?
You can export on Basic or above, and you can open the export in Cursor. Expect generated structure, FlutterFlow packages, and no round-trip back to the canvas. Budget a rewrite of the conventions if an agent is going to live in that repo for months.
Does FlutterFlow include Sign in with Apple, account deletion, and subscriptions?
It can be made to. They are not a finished, connected shell on day one. ShipAppFast ships email, Google, and Apple sign-in, password reset, phone verification, account deletion, and RevenueCat plus Superwall already wired. You still brand them and point them at your project.
Which is cheaper for a solo founder?
ShipAppFast, if you are going to own the code anyway. $149 once against $39 a month. FlutterFlow is cheaper only if you needed the canvas for a short prototype and you cancel.
Does ShipAppFast work with FlutterFlow?
No. Pick one starting point. Mixing a generated FlutterFlow project with a hand-written boilerplate means two architectures in one app.
The boring 80% is the part both tools claim to remove. Only one of them removes it by handing you the repo. That is ShipAppFast.
